At Baskin Engineering, we are invested in helping you build and strengthen your research through external funding. We urge you to take advantage of our exclusive relationship with Hanover Research to hone your grant proposals and re-submissions, in addition to resources offered by the UCSC Office of Research.
Hanover Research Partnership
The UCSC Office of Research and Baskin Engineering have established a partnership with Hanover Research, a high-level consulting agency that employs grant professionals to help principal investigators secure funding from sources including NIH, DARPA, DOD, NSF, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This service is free for Baskin Engineering senate faculty.
Proposal support services include:
- Mock panel/Red Team review (Hanover works only with completed proposals)
- Choice of one round of review or two rounds of review and revision
- Support is available to rework proposals that have been rejected by a funding agency for submission to another funding agency (or another call within the same agency) that the PI identifies. Hanover Research will require the reviewer/panel comments from the original funding agency to be included in the request package.
Note:
- Designed to complement, not replace, support from research development specialists
- Limited capacity for the number of proposals that can be supported
How to request Hanover services:
- Submission of the request package: Email your proposal to Associate Dean for Research Sri Kurniawan (skurnia@ucsc.edu).
- Include reviewer/panel comments if it’s a resubmission.
- Include a link to the online funding call.
- Send your request at least 8 weeks before the deadline.
- Decision flowchart:
- Kurniawan will connect the PI with the content director at Hanover Research, if she deems the proposal is ready for review.
- Hanover Research content director will meet with the PI to discuss the proposal.
- Hanover Research content director will recommend to Kurniawan if the proposal is ready for Hanover’s review, and advise on whether the PI could benefit from one round or two rounds of review and revision.
- Kurniawan then provides the green light to Hanover Research. From there, the PI works directly with Hanover Research.
